AGNI YOGA Yoga, which means “divine union”, is the goal that mystics, saints and aspirants from various spiritual paths strive for. While many are familiar with yoga as a physical exercise, commonly referred to as hath yoga, I would speak of a path that transcends the physical. This is the path of agni yoga, which is the path of sacred fire that leads to the ascension- the permanent union of the soul with the Infinite. Agni yoga outlines a combination of affirmations, prayers, decrees, visualizations and mantras to realize the essence of all life and merge with it. Categorizing agni yoga as either prayer or meditation would limit the scope of its application. It seems that agni yoga is a synergy of them both since the spoken word, which is used in both the east and west, may qualify as prayer, yet a meditative and one-pointed directions of one’s thoughts is also employed. |

In the book the Masters and the Spiritual Path, it is written “there is no progress without fire.” Therefore, if we do not seek to internalize spirit as a living flame and act accordingly, then we have failed to realize the highest yoga. Agni yoga does not ask one to leave behind the other paths to God including, Bhakti (divine love) Yoga, Karma (action) Yoga, Jnana (knowledge) Yoga and Raja (royal) Yoga, yet it does ask that one progress one step further to contact the living flame of them all.
