Time and space were not. It was as if we had never left eternity. Suspended in the great stillness of the sea of light, we were surveyors of the vast beauty of hallowed space-girded tier upon tier by angelic hosts, Elohim, and hierarchies of the Central Sun. I beheld worlds beyond worlds teeming with intelligences who formed the universal chain of being...

In a moment, in God, the drama of Light evolving light had unfolded before me. My soul knew Reality...

I knew him for twelve years, first as chela of the will of God under the disciplines of El Morya, and then as honored wife and mother of our four children.

It was while I was a student at Boston University that El Morya called me to go to Washington to be trained by him to be the messenger for the Great White Brotherhood. His purpose was to prepare me for the transfer of the mantle of the prophet and the initiation of the 'double portion' of the Lord's Spirit.

I learned that it is the function of the messenger, or prophet, to transfer spirals of cosmic consciousness and energy from the ascended masters to unascended souls...Thus the prophet is the link between the world of the Real and the unreal...

My beloved stayed and taught me day by day out of the depths of his soul's communion with the Lord's hosts...Now and then he would remind me of the inevitable "parting for a season." But though my soul knew the hour and the day and my heart was already pierced by the sword of truth that he brought, my mind sealed itself from the inevitable reality.

But then it came. That memorable day when the garment of the Lord fell upon me. And I stood by—helpless, heartbroken, wanting utterly to die for him, wanting ultimately to live for the children, all of God's children—and watched for forty-eight hours as I saw his soul leave the body temple and reunite with Christ in God in the glory of the ascension.

Truly it was a moment of the greatest sorrow and the greatest joy that the boundaries of human experience can afford. Yet even then he never took his soul's compassionate eyes from me, upholding me as I would uphold him.

In 1961 Elizabeth Clare Prophet, then a student at Boston University, responded to the call of El Morya:  “I have need of a feminine Messenger. Go to Washington and I will train you through Mark Prophet.” It was said that her arrival was the “squaring of the circle” –i.e., the original three chelas present at the foundiing of the Summit Lighthouse became four, the number needed for the spiritual endowments to be anchored in the physical octave.”

Basically all I had at that time was the Bible, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures and the other writings of Mary Baker Eddy, which happened to be the path that I found when I was a child. I also had the three “I AM” books and a set of “I AM” Adorations, Affirmations and Decrees. That’s all the spiritual reading I had.”

People think that I must have read everything there was to read in the occult field, but I hadn’t read the books then and I haven’t since. In fact, I have never had any need to read them as I’ve always had the direct flame of God. Through that flame I had the absolute contact with the Ascended Masters, with God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit.

You can find people who are erudite and have read everything there is to read, yet they have never established the contact because they try to do so through the mental body instead of through the soul and the soul’s rising to the plane of the I AM Presence.   

However, with the material I had and by following its teaching I had gone as far as I could go without a guru. I could not have taken another step toward my personal salvation or initiations on the path. I needed to meet God in the flesh in order to know what I was doing right, what I was doing wrong and what was the matter with the subjective awareness of my consciousness. I had many misconceptions, which I had simply accepted along the way and had allowed to become ingrained in me.

I had to meet the personal Messenger. That is why I am so grateful for the person of the Cosmic Christ coming to Summit University and for the person of the Messenger Mark Prophet. Until that day, the day you meet the Guru, you don’t move forward on the path, and that is the absolute truth.

That very relationship, the Guru-chela relationship, has been attacked in recent months through the accusations of the anti-cult people and all the rest. Yet the greatest attack on the real Guru-chela relationship is that of the false gurus who present a parallel path in order to entrap souls of light in their circles. Then you find the parents and friends of these souls becoming aware of the manipulations and the hypnotism of these false ones.

Nevertheless, regardless of the attack on the flame of the prophets and their relationship to the people of God, I still have to state the absolute truth: the chela can only go so far in this subjective awareness. He must meet God-man.

1961 THE KEEPERS OF THE FLAME FRATERNITY IS FOUNDED

El Morya comments in his The Chela and the Path series on the KOF Fraternity:

Chelas Who Would Keep the Flame of Life:

Hold fast what thou hast received!”  is the fiat of the Lord pronounced by his hosts as they pass the torch of life to every Keeper of the Flame. Like the runners of ancient Greece who waited to seize the torch from the previous runner in the race, chelas of the sacred fire figure in the plan of hierarchy as they take up the torch of the Holy Spirit and of the Maha Chohan, <1>the Keeper of the Flame of Life.

All who would count themselves as members of the Great White Brotherhood must understand the responsibility of hierarchy. The torch is indeed passed to a new generation of Lightbearers. The torch must be accepted gladly by an out­stretched hand, a strong arm, a pure heart, and a mind holding God-control over the four lower bodies. The torch must be carried joyfully in the race of life and then graciously passed by the mature to the youth waiting on the line for those who have given their all and received in return the all of the Lord.

Hierarchy is composed of runners in the race. Hierarchy is a cloud of witnesses witnessing unto the truth of the ages. Hierarchy is keepers of the flame of Life passing the torch of the Holy Spirit to all generations. “Wherefore,” as it is written, “seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight [of karma] and the sin [the sense of struggle] which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us.” <2>

Like Jesus, in whom we find the beginning and the ending of the cycles of Alpha and Omega converged in his great example of the Christ consciousness, like him whom we exalt as “the author and finisher of our faith” because he contained the “body” and the “blood” of the eternal Christos, like him we endure the cross, we prepare for the initiation of the crucifixion, for the joy that is set before us. And by God’s grace, when we shall have run the race we shall also be “set down at the right hand of the throne of God.” <3>

In January 1961 I authorized the formation of the Keepers of the Flame Fraternity to be formed of a circle of devotees within The Summit Lighthouse who would give supreme allegiance to the flame of Life and to the Knight Commander, Saint Germain. I invited all who would pledge their support to this hierarch of the Aquarian age to paricipate in a worldwide endeavor to draw into the flame of the Holy Spirit sons and daughters of God who would come forward to claim their inheritance as joint heirs of the Christ consciousness. <4>

And so the call went forth to all who had stood before the Lords of Karma at the Court of Justice vowing to implement the plan of hierarchy for world freedom. These are they whose souls, as they descended into embodiment, uttered the fiat of the messengers of the Lord, “Lo, I AM come to do thy will, O God!” <5>

Just as unascended chelas of the law have obligations to hierarchy, a responsibility to mankind, and a duty that is their dharma to fulfill the inner law of their being, so ascended hierarchs have their obligations to those above and below them in the scale of hierarchy, not the least of these being to their unascended chelas. Therefore, in order to provide opportunity for service to all, to meet the requirements of the law “as above so below,” and to release a gnosis of Ascended Master law into hands outstretched and hearts uplifted, Saint Germain went before the Lords of Karma once again. He asked for and received the dispensation to place his purple cape, the mantle of his service, upon the altar of humanity, and specifically upon the altar of all true devotees of the flame of freedom–those destined to be the avant-garde of the Aquarian age.

To those who would give their support shoulder to shoulder to the Ascended Masters and to our Messengers Mark and Elizabeth Prophet for the promulgation of authentic teaching delivered unto them by the hierarchy, a special invitation was extended by the Knight Commander and me to affirm their sponsorship and their commitment by joining this outer fraternity of the Great White Brotherhood. To all who would recognize the Prophets as they serve in the office of the two witnesses prophesied in the eleventh chapter of the Book of Revelation, to all who would understand the need to keep the flame of Life on behalf of a humanity unenlightened and unawakened in memory of the Ancient of Days, <6> the invitation was given.

Those who responded are those who understood from deep within the soul the need to reconsecrate that flame through daily invocations and decrees made in the name of the I AM Presence and the Christed Self of all mankind–those who were eager to pursue the alchemy of the Spirit and to work directly with Saint Germain to precipitate the foundations of the golden age.

Those who have remained constant to their pledge have also understood the need to sponsor the teachings through regular financial support of our organization, The Summit Lighthouse. And over the years they have affirmed their loyalty and their oneness, their willingness to sacrifice, if necessary, lesser causes and concerns for the greater cause of the Brotherhood on earth, the cause to which their souls were already dedicated in heaven.

Wherever the Ascended Masters have worked diligently to establish a focus of their teaching, there has always been an attempt by the dark ones to usurp the authority of the prophet, the teacher, or the messenger through control of the purse strings. This occurred in the early formation of The Summit Lighthouse. At that time the Messenger Mark L. Prophet totally rejected both the purse and the person of one whose financial backing, offered in exchange for the control of our organization, could have brought him world renown. It is often the case in this world that those who control the supply also control the policy of institutions public and private.

Thus in those early days when the very fate of a planet seemed to hang in the balance as a few chelas made their decision, some questionable and questioning and some quick to leap as a flame in the service of Saint Germain, the Knight Commander exclaimed:  “O for ten thousand scrubwomen who will faithfully give to the cause!  With these I will show you how to change the world with divine truth.” <7>Therefore a nominal initiation fee and monthly dues were set to offset the control of the few by the support of the many.

Chelas of the sacred fire who would become alchemists of the Spirit must understand the requirements of the law. Whereas we send forth the Teacher and the Teaching, those evolving in the planes of Mater must demonstrate their devotion to both Teacher and Teaching by demonstrating through the laws of alchemy the precipitation, whether directly or indirectly, of the necessary supply for the expansion of the work and the multiplication of our word throughout the body of God. Ours is the descending triangle of the Logos, and yours is the ascending pyramid of the mastery of the material plane.

By the law of alchemy, as you give regular support–heart, head, and hand–to our cause through the Keepers of the Flame Fraternity, we are authorized to deliver into your hands instruction in cosmic law that has already laid the foundation for the ascension of not one but a number of Keepers of the Flame. These have both received and applied the monthly lessons written by the hierarchy, presenting step by step the certain knowledge of the law that leads each Keeper of the Flame on the path of initiation to the door of the I AM Presence who declares, “Behold, I AM the open door which no man can shut!” <8>Here at the feet of the chela’s own living masterful Presence of Life, the torch that he carries in his right hand bursts into the ascension flame and he is received from the sight of mortals into the cloud of sacred fire   <9>with which his soul merges at the conclusion of the race.

The Keepers of the Flame Fraternity is a universal spiritual order dedicated to eternal faith, unwavering constancy, and infinite harmony with the love of God that is forever the radiant flame called Life. Keepers of the Flame live for the flame of Life, and Keepers of the Flame are the lively stones in the temple of our God. <10> They uphold the flame of Life as the threefold flame ablaze within their hearts, a focus of overcoming victory to negate personal and planetary spirals of death, disintegration, and decay.

The flame of Life which they keep within their hearts is a sacred fire blazing higher and higher as they invoke the action of the seven rays of the Christ consciousness. Thus the white fire, in answer to the call of each Keeper of the Flame, takes on the hues of the seven rays as they apply to the flame of God-mastery under each of the Chohans of the Rays.

Keepers of the Flame are responsible to the spiritual board of the fraternity, which is headed by the Maha Chohan, the Keeper of the Flame, and the Knight Commander, Saint Germain. The board of directors is composed of the Seven Chohans, who direct various aspects of the unfoldment of the law both through the printed instruction and through the individual training which Keepers of the Flame are given in the etheric retreats of the Great White Brotherhood. A special Committee for Child Guidance formed for the preparation of parents of incoming souls and for the proper education of children is headed by the World Teachers, Jesus and Kuthumi, together with Mother Mary.

All who uphold the honor of the Keepers of the Flame and live according to the principles and precepts of the law find an acceleration of both inner and outer discipline which comes to them out of the living fount of joy and gratitude which the hierarchies of heaven hold for all upon earth who are willing to give a more than ordinary support to the cause that is paramount to the salvation (self-elevation) of humanity.

Upon the founding of the fraternity, the spiritual board, with the assistance of the entire Great White Brotherhood, ordained and dedicated the Keepers of the Flame Lessons as an official channel which should serve to further enlighten mankind and to vanquish ignorance by the light and power of the God flame. And it was determined at the Darjeeling Council table that the sacred knowledge of the flame which the Masters are pledged to release in these lessons should provide a safe platform for ascending souls–a path so well lighted that none who examine the teachings and pursue them with an objective heart should ever hesitate to cross the threshold into eternal life and the truth that shall make all mankind free. <11>

Those who have faithfully served the cause of the Brotherhood through their support of the Keepers of the Flame Fraternity have been amply rewarded with countless blessings. One and all, though sometimes unbeknownst to their outer consciousness, have had the opportunity to attend closed classes in the retreats of the Masters, as well as at our quarterly conferences, and to balance an extraordinary amount of karma through their application to the violet flame multiplied by the sponsors of the fraternity (the members of the spiritual board), who enter into a direct and intimate relationship with each chela who is willing to make the commitment that is required.

Make no mistake. Though organizations have failed, though individuals have betrayed the trust of God and man, the Great White Brotherhood continues to sponsor qualified leadership in outer activities and to use them both as the threshing floor where the chaff and the wheat may be separated to prove who is worthy of association with hierarchy. The Keepers of the Flame Fraternity and The Summit Lighthouse are such organizations, and our Messengers are examples of individuals sponsored by hierarchy to represent the true Church Universal and Triumphant to all who are able to receive them.

The fact that some have failed does not mean that all will fail, for I am here to tell you that in the cosmos the victories far exceed the failures. And thus we are Gurus in search of chelas who are willing to give that total support to the flame of God-reality which is the foundation of every victory. As Saint Germain set forth the requirements of the hour as constancy, harmony, and loyalty, so I add to that list courage, ingenuity, and a daring to love God and his anointed servants all the way.

Some of you are aware of the fact that I was embodied as Arthur, king of the Britons, and that I shared with Lancelot and Guinevere the dream of the Knights of the Round Table and the quest for the Holy Grail. Some of you know that Merlin, the court magician, was a living embodiment of Saint Germain, who held the flame of prophet, counselor, and alchemist during my reign. Now let it be known that Camelot was a dream of the lowering from the etheric plane into the physical, as one of the Father’s many mansions, <12>of a nucleus of Lightbearers, representatives of the twelve tribes of Israel and the true Israelites whose pledge is also to the Christ and to the flame of reality in all that is real.

And let it be known that the Messenger Mark was my chela in Lancelot and that my beloved Queen Guinevere was his twin flame, your own Elizabeth whose Mother’s heart now belongs to the world. Let it be known that that triangle of mutual love which we shared focused the Trinity of Father, Son, and Bride of Holy Spirit and that the oneness which we pledged and our devotion to the crystal light and the goblet of our Lord is renewed each day as we partake, as above so below, of the communion cup of life. And the three dots which are the Mark of Morya in devotion to the Mother are the sign of our thrust for a purpose and of Camelot come again.

The Keepers of the Flame Fraternity is presently composed of souls who have been with us through the ages as we have sought and found the Holy Grail. And one by one, those who have made themselves worthy have also found their places reserved at the round tables of the etheric retreats of the Brotherhood.

In this fraternity sponsored by our Merlin, we work hand in hand to realize the dream that was so long ago, the dream that is reborn within our hearts as a matrix of victory in every age. Thus in the ceremonies of the Keepers of the Flame meetings, there is the opportunity for initiates of an extraordinary devotion to be knighted by the Knight Commander and to be sealed as ladies of the flame. Others who have embodied a certain virtue with stead­fastness, in patience waiting upon the Lord, <13> may be given the title of brother or sister of the flame.

Chelas who remember the flame at Camelot, chelas who understand the need to maintain the thread of contact with hierarchy and the continuity of the unfoldment of the plan century by century, will run with the call of Camelot and the response that only love can give, “To you I give my all!”

Keepers of the Flame, onward in the search for the Holy Grail!  With the banner of the World Mother, the heart of the Knight Invincible, the shield of Archangel Michael, and the sword Excalibur, we shall not fail!

1963 THE ASSASSINATION OF PRESIDENT JOHN F. KENNEDY

I encourage you to accelerate your violet-flame momentum, for now it is becoming a rolling momentum—now it can be used. And let it pierce and be pierced with invocations to the all-seeing eye of God that once and for all there may be the exposure of who shot JFK and what was the conspiracy behind both the transition of Abraham Lincoln and John Fitzgerald Kennedy. The letter below from our late president to the people of the United States was transmitted by beloved El Morya from Darjeeling to his messenger Mark L. The twenty-sixth day of November, 1963

My Fellow Americans:

The wavering action of unstable emotions must abate in the world community. Just as long as violent feelings continue to rage, as long as feelings remain untempered by reason, just so long shall noble solutions to the problems of the world be denied mankind. Only the balm of rule by law and order can keep the city of humanity’s domain in a manner befitting human dignity and the current advance of culture. Freedom is more than a word to constrain the forces of anarchy and chaos. It is a vital Flame whose eternal Light glows fervently for all.

The fear and restraint characterizing a world where each man’s concern is but for the narrow protection of that limited band he calls his own must be replaced by larger concerns of mutual interest—the courage to stand for morality, for progress in the arts and sciences, and for religious freedom to strengthen the bulwarks of the world’s cultural achievements.

To enlist the aid of the many it sometimes becomes necessary to sacrifice in small ways and then again, supremely; for the Torch of Freedom cannot be successively passed to those who will not bear it with honor and dignity. The world’s pathway to Freedom, as in the past, is currently studded with milestones of never-ending progress. However, the highways to achievement are not yet smoothened but are full of detours and hidden dangers.

We must not fear the future. We must take not of the past and learn by the power of example. If any effort toward progress bears some fruit, it is a worthy offering; and all who strive together toward mutual goals for humanity shall one day bask in the glow of the Torch of the Future when the light of greater knowledge, held in the hands of  joint humanity, shall lead men from darkness to greater Light.

It is my earnest desire that the events which took place in Dallas shall not serve further to divide the world nor to result in a greater flare of fanaticism among mankind. My service to life, to World Freedom and Peace, was gladly given. If must be recognized by all that to step from one’s bedside each day is a calculated risk from which people of courage must not shrink.

Just as I cannot measure my sense of love and devotion to the American people, to my family and friends, so I cannot let this opportunity pass without exhorting those who are able to accept the reality and continuity of my existence to continue to strive for peace and calmness in the face of all foment generated by men whose environment has not permitted them either the solace of religious conviction, the absorption of a richer measure of the world’s culture, or that economic stability and pride in person and service for which, unknown to themselves, they secretly and inadvertently yearn.

I, therefore, urge that citizens of America and of the world shall mitigate their judgments of the people of Dallas and of Texas. There was far more love and kindness manifest in this greathearted state than could ever by countermanded by ten assassins’ bullets. The spirit of anarchy and confusion is not confined to places but finds lodging in the hears and minds of men whose ideals are not wholly clarified by reason and reasonable trust either in their government or in their God whose mercy endureth forever.

The record of President Lincoln’s assassination has been shown to me—one that is unrecorded in the archives of men. Those kind Intelligences, charged by God for the administration of the world’s Spiritual Government, have given me irrefutable and unmistakable evidence which convinces me without question that the assassination of President Lincoln was not and could not have been an act for which the South alone was responsible. I am convinced also that this is true in my own case and I wish to extend to those who have the faith to believe, to accept and to cherish my thoughts, as an aftermath of my own passing from the world scene, to bear equal comfort to mankind, to bind up the wounds of the nation, to take the hand of the widow and the orphans, not only of my own beloved ones but also of the man who was used as a tool to effect my transfer from the world arena.

A little crystal Madonna, held in the hands of a child, does not distinguish between good and evil. As men’s hearts, in gratitude to the holy principles of motherhood, cry, “Ave Maria,” they cannot withhold the balm of mercy from all who require it. The Master’s words, “Pray for those who despitefully use you,” His call, “Father forgive them, they know not what they do,” cannot be denied to any.

I am cognizant of the continuation of the world’s problems but comforted in the eternal bond of friendship with flows unbroken from the spiritual world into the world of material form. President Johnson was chosen for his capability. At the time of his selection I could not in honor to the heart and principle of Freedom fail to consider the possibility of just such an event as so recently occurred. Therefore, I urge all to continue to support the high office of the President of the United States, to seek for a greater union of hearts and a greater alliance of purpose.

Encouragement should be given to the flow of commerce the world around; a special bond of Freedom should unite the three Americas. Our neighbors to the north, the people of Canada, the people of Mexico and Panama, the Alliance for Progress, the Organization of American States, all of these should manifest the Holy Flame of One Identity, for the struggle for law and order will continue to go on in what at times seems a lonely and lawless world. We cannot afford to yield one inch of ground to the forces of tyranny; we cannot let any event whatsoever dissuade us from the holy purpose of keeping both the Peace and Freedom, of standing guard to preserve those essential elements of life and liberty for which the many have already given their lives, their fortunes, and their sacred honor.

I, therefore, John Fitzgerald Kennedy, borne from the world by the summer winds of a greater love to which I had long pledged by service, bequeath to you all the full-gathered momentum of my energies for an on behalf of Freedom. The Torch is indeed passed, but I know and I am certain that many noble young men and women, many men and women of mature dignity, and even the staunch hand of age shall continue to grasp it, to hold it high, to defend it against all enemies.

Our Nation must collectively rest consoled in the arms of a Holy Freedom which refuses to be confined to the altars erected by men, but seeks to find repose within their hearts and souls. Of this I am certain, that as in the past so in the future, the cry, “Watchman, what of the night?” shall often be heard in our land and the answer shall come: “All is well.”  The answer shall come because men stand guard, because men determine to control their emotions, because men seek to be better examples, and because men continue to express courage. As such qualities are divine, eternal, and immortal, they shall not perish from the earth.
