With this understanding of the sword being the focus of the sword of the Archangels and the Archangels being present, I initiated a blessing during the prayer vigils called The Communion of the Sword. During this ritual, the sword-wielder offers the sword as an instrument through which the Archangels may release fire. The question asked of the congregation was, “If you knew that an Archangel was going to stand before you, point his sword at you and blaze the fire of God through it, what would be your prayer to that Archangel ?” After praying to God and the Archangels, I would take the sword, raise it up, and point it at each person as he filed by. I would then give the fiat, “Fire of the Archangels, blaze forth!” It’s a form of communion. Just as the communion server serves you a wafer, the sword wielder offers the Sword and the Archangels work through it. So it’s not that the sword wielder is “initiating” or blessing anyone. It’s the fire of God and the Archangels working through the sword that becomes the blessing.
