In his highly acclaimed book Seven Habits of Highly Effective People Steven Covey shares with us a concept that he calls “your circle of influence”:
“Proactive people focus their efforts in the Circle of Influence. They work on the things they can do something about. The nature of their energy is positive, enlarging and magnifying, causing their Circle of Influence to increase. Reactive people, on the other hand, focus their efforts in the Circle of Concern. They focus on the weakness of other people, the problems in the environment, and circumstances over which they have no control. Their focus results in blaming and accusing attitudes, reactive language, and increased feelings of victimization. The negative energy generated by that focus, combined with neglect in areas they could do something about, causes their Circle of Influence to shrink.”
Essentially we want to be proactive rather than reactive with our words and affirmations.
Think in terms of “Let there be.” Do we want our “Let there be” creations to be critical, blaming, victimizing or do we want them to be positive, enlarging, empowering, magnifying, uplifting?
We can be positive change agents wherever we are giving a positive spin to everyone we meet. We are in charge of our own destiny, and we have all the tools and resources available to us to be successful and the most powerful tool of all is the word itself.
Ultimately as we change ourselves, we are changing the world.
The following two excerpts have always been a very powerful reality check for me and I believe for anyone who has doubts about his or her ability to make a difference in this world and I always liked to start my workshops by reviewing them. It is important, I think, right from the beginning to reflect on the infinite potential that we contain.
Sanat Kumara, October 7, 1979 :
...Oh beloved hearts, wherever Keepers of the Flame, two in number, enter a city, it is as though the magnet of Alpha and Omega had come. And when they begin the spiral of the dynamic decrees, the forces of light are polarized instantly; therefore two per city will checkmate chaos and confusion.
Nada, April 29, 1973:
Children of the One God,
As David prepared a place for the ark of God and pitched for it a tent and gathered all Israel together to Jerusalem to bring up the ark of the Lord unto His place which he had prepared for it, so it is well that you should honor the Lord this day—first within your heart, the altar of being upon which blazes the Flame of the Most High God, and then in your mind, which is the tabernacle of witness for the Christ who “before Abraham was, I AM.” For the mind and the mind’s eye is the seat of the Logos out of which proceeds the power of the spoken Word that is the foundation for all the creation.
As the word of the Lord came to David through Nathan the prophet “Go and tell David My servant, Thus saith the Lord, Thou shalt not build Me an house to dwell in: for I have not dwelt in an house since the day that I brought up Israel unto this day, but have gone from tent to tent and from one tabernacle to another,” so as the representative of the flame of love on the Karmic Board and as the Chohan of the Sixth Ray, I bring to you the word of the Lord this day: I say to you that in this hour of world travail, the ark of the covenant must be enshrined within the tabernacle of man’s being. And it must be established there in the Holy of Holies, sealed in the chalice of the heart and the fires thereof. And the tents of My people Israel must be the biding place of the ark.
The tent is the focus of the Threefold Flame, the three focal points being spiritually interpreted as the threefold habitation of power, wisdom, and love—of Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—that is the gift of Life to every man and every woman. This gift, when hallowed by the soul, when honored and adored with supreme adoration, gives every man and woman the right to be a priest or priestess of the Sacred Fire after the Order of Melchizedek.

As we read these words, itbecomes very clear that the role of priest and priestess of the sacred fire is not exclusively reserved as a privilege for a few elect individuals, it is the right of all who, as Nada says, will honor and adore with supreme adoration this spark of fire that is indwelling within all of us.
Understanding this, what then becomes our primary goal in a spiritual sense?
Our number one goal in a spiritual sense is our Christhood!
What does that mean? Our primary goal may well be defined as the ongoing development of our inner integrity and alignment with universal principles. Whatever Christhood means to you, make it reachable and realistic to accomplish, remember “Practice makes progress.”
We have been told by our ascended master teachers to look within and choose an inner virtue or strength that already exists within us and to work on that virtue, refine and develop it. Focus on the positive aspects of our lives and what is already working for us. What we put our attention on grows, what we nurture and appreciate will blossom and expand. And what’s more, these qualities and virtues will magnetize more of their kind unto themselves. Like attracts like, love attracts love, kindness attracts kindness, peace and harmony create an energy field that taps into the universal God power that is at all times present across the vast reaches of space.
